Beebs and I are on a bad streak of mediocre food - judging from our most recent reviews. This place was not an exception to our streak. I haven’t been here for over a year, and I remember how much I loved this place, so we decided to stop by for a late night dessert (they open after 7pm).
We were greeted with darkness and a huge curtain. For some reason, I don’t remember Cheesecake etc being so dim. There were only a few other people inside, so we basically chose our own table to sit. Beebs chose the original cheesecake with chocolate on top, and I chose the original cheesecake with gourmet pears and chocolate. Our cheesecakes didn’t take too long to arrive, but our server got one of our orders wrong and gave Beebs just a plain original (I can’t believe they got this wrong though). They took it back to the kitchen and quickly squirted some chocolate on. I got really hyped up to take the first bite because I had expectations from the last time. I was utterly disappointed. It was lackluster in comparison to the last time. This cheesecake lacked body and substance. It was fluffy rather than creamy. There was no aroma of cream cheese at all. I thought I was eating thick whip the entire time. It didn’t help that their ‘gourmet’ topping didn’t blend well with their cheesecake. The pears was overly sweet (sugar syrup) and their chocolate topping was chocolate syrup from squeeze bottles. The last time we came here, they actually had melted dark chocolate on top. The quality of the cheesecakes really went downhill from a year ago. It wasn’t worth the money this time round.
The atmosphere was okay. I like the romantic-ness, because it was candle-lit. And due to their lack of customers, it was quiet and not too overwhelming.
This was definitely a miss, and I wouldn’t recommend this dessert place as for now…
